Group Health Insurance Eligibility and Enrollment

Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty offers eligible team members the opportunity to participate in our group health insurance plans.
Eligibility and Initial Enrollment
Newly affiliated team members become eligible to enroll in our group health coverage on the first day of the month following their first 60 days with the company. Once eligible, team members have a 30-day window to enroll or make any benefit selections or changes.
If a team member does not enroll during this initial 30-day period, they will need to wait until the next annual open enrollment period unless they experience a qualifying life event.
Annual Open Enrollment
Our open enrollment period takes place each year during the month of August. During this time, team members may review their current elections, make changes to coverage, add or remove dependents, or enroll in new plans. Any changes made during open enrollment will take effect on September 1.
Qualifying Life Events
Outside of initial and open enrollment periods, changes to health plan elections can only be made if a team member experiences a qualifying life event (QLE). Examples include:
- Marriage or divorce
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Death of a dependent
- Medicare entitlement
- End of a dependent’s full-time student status
- Termination of a spouse’s employment that affects benefits
- Loss of other group coverage
When a qualifying event occurs, team members have 30 days from the date of the event to request changes to their coverage. If changes are not made within that 30-day window, the next opportunity to adjust benefits will be during the annual open enrollment period.
