Okta Verify is the multi-factor authentication (MFA) app used by Sotheby’s International Realty to securely access company systems, including the Sotheby’s International Realty Access website. This guide will walk you through how to download, set up, and confirm Okta Verify on your device.
You’ll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Your mobile phone (Apple or Android)
- A computer or laptop
- Your @sothebysrealty.com email address and password
Step 1: Download the App
On your mobile device, search for the Okta Verify app and download it. It’s available in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Note: Set your phone aside. We’ll return to the mobile setup in Step 5.
Step 2: Log Into Okta
On your computer, log into Okta at https://okta.anywhere.re.
Enter your corporate work email address in the Username field, followed by your Password.
Choose Receive a code via SMS and enter the code you receive.
Result: The Okta dashboard opens on your computer.
Step 3: Begin the Setup Process
Once the Okta dashboard appears on your screen, click this link from your computer:
https://okta.anywhere.re/home/bookmark/0oa17bkfuexedYur01t8/2557
A new tab will open in your browser and begin the setup process. You’ll be asked to log in again using your work email and password.
Step 4: Set Up Okta Verify App
On your computer, click Setup under Okta Verify.
Result: A QR code appears on your screen — we’ll come back to this in Step 6.
Step 5: Set Up Okta Verify App (on Mobile)
On your mobile device, tap through the setup screens. The screens shown below are the most common, though your options may vary slightly depending on device type or prior use of the Okta Verify app.
In these screens, tap:
- Get Started
- Next
- Add Account
- Organization
- Skip
Step 6: Set Up the Okta Verify App (QR Code)
When the Do You Have Your QR Code screen appears on your mobile device, tap Yes, Ready to Scan.
You may be asked to allow Okta access to your camera. Once granted, use your mobile device to scan the QR code that appeared on your computer screen in Step 4.
Note: If too much time has passed since Step 4, the QR code may expire. If that happens, simply refresh the page and log in again.
Step 7: Finish Okta Verify App Setup
When prompted for Push Notifications, tap Allow and then Allow again to confirm.
We recommend selecting Not Now when asked to enable Face ID or Passcode Confirmation.
Step 8: Confirm Okta Verify Setup (Mobile)
In the final step on your mobile device, a confirmation screen appears stating the Okta Account has been added. Tap Done to complete the process on your device.
Step 9: Confirm Okta Verify Setup (Computer)
On your computer, the Okta Settings screen will appear with a green confirmation box in the top-right corner for a few moments. You can now close the Okta window.
Step 10: Switch to Okta Verify
The next time you visit a site that requires multi-factor authentication (MFA), you’ll see a verification screen. Click Verify with something else.
Then select Get a push notification – Okta Verify.
Step 11: Use Okta Verify Push Notification
From now on, when you open a page or app that requires Okta verification, you’ll see this computer screen first.
Then, on your mobile device, tap Yes, It’s Me when prompted with “Did You Just Try to Sign In?”
Once approved, the app or page will open on your computer.
Troubleshooting: Setting Up Okta Verify on a New Phone
If you’ve already completed the setup steps above and later purchase a new phone, you’ll need to contact the Sotheby’s International Realty Help Desk to remove your old device before adding the new one.
This step is required because your previous authentication method must be cleared before your account can connect to a new phone.
Once the Help Desk removes your old device, you’ll be able to log in to the Sotheby’s International Realty Access website again and repeat the setup steps above.
